Old Brown Windsor Soap

Old Brown Windsor soap is a classic, traditional-style spicy soap that was popular throughout the 1800s. Originating in Windsor, England, Queen Victoria was reportedly a fan, as were Napoleon and Lewis and Clark, so the story goes. Its aroma is exotic and spicy, yet familiar and comforting, which comes from a unique and complex blend of certified pure essential oils.

We modified the centuries-old recipe taken from a trade journal (Perfumery and Kindred Arts, a Comprehensive Treatise on Perfumery, written by Cristiani, and dated 1877) by replacing the animal-derived ingredients with plant-derived ingredients. Otherwise, our recipe is rather historically accurate.

Ingredients: coconut oil, ethically and sustainably sourced palm kernel oil, extra virgin olive oil, cocoa butter, castor oil, lavender, bergamot, star anise, cinnamon cassia, clove & petitgrain essential oils, brown Brazilian clay (kaolin).

100% natural, hand-poured and cut, small batch soap. Tested on friends, never animals. Vegan appropriate. For all skin types.

Free from: sulfates, parabens, phthalates, silicones, synthetic fragrances and dyes.

Because our soaps are handmade in small batches, they tend to look slightly different each time we make them, so not all products will appear exactly as shown on our website. That is the nature of handmade soap, and we thank you for understanding!
